Malta, one of the new members of the European Union, is known for its long and colourful history. In contrast, its plant diversity has been largely neglected internationally. It is estimated that there are about 1000 plant species on the archipelago, the surface of which (316 km2) is only little bigger than a third of the area of Berlin!. Hence, we plan to focus our floristic, taxonomical, ecologial and structural research here.
