Voyria tenella (cross section through a shoot), happy beeing watched. Cross section of the tender shoot of Voyria tenella, only having four discrete vascular bundles (the upper two are the "eyes"). Branches of the bundles merge to form the single leaf trace ("mouth" and "tongue"). The cells of the central parenchyma often disintegrate and leave an open space ("nose"). Leaves of V. tenella are a bit sheathing ("earphones").
